KNUTSFORD'S largest ever Christmas market went down a storm with punters this weekend as thousands crammed into the town centre to enjoy the annual festivities.

Knutsford was the place to be this weekend as the Town Council’s annual Christmas weekend event brought in thousands of people to enjoy the Christmas Markets, Light Switch On and Reindeer Parade.

The largest market yet featuring 138 traders certainly brought in the crowds with some traders selling an entire weekends stock in just one day.

Numerous messages of thanks appeared on the @KnutsfordXmas twitter account from traders and visitors to the event, which included a coach party from Nottingham.

The Wag Tailor added: “Just wanted to say thank you to your team for having us at the Christmas market this weekend. Like last year, we really enjoyed being part of it - it was a great atmosphere and very well organised from start to finish! Thanks again, hopefully see you next year”

David Stephenson: @David_TalentInt added: “Great day at the @KnutsfordXmas markets yesterday - all of the family had a great day and spent lots! Thank you.”

Lisa Benskin, deputy town clerk told the Guardian she was very pleased that so many residents, visitors and traders had embraced the event.

“The Officers spend many months planning the event so it’s great to receive such wonderful feedback from traders and see so many people enjoying themselves," she said.

The event also saw the largest crowd for the lights switch on which organisers said was testament to the quality of the acts that performed, from school choirs to Knutsford Rock Choir and upcoming local band ‘The White Hot Chilli Peppers’ to vocalist Zoe Unsworth, and Tatton Singers to SMB Dance and Rokit.

The Christmas events continue this week with the St Cross Tree Festival taking place from Friday, December to Sunday, December 11, and the lantern parade at 5pm on Saturday - not Sunday as reported in this week's paper - leaving from St Cross Church, followed by the community crib service.
