KNUTSFORD Academy is celebrating after being named as one the top performing schools in the UK.

The school has featured in this year’s Sunday Times Schools Guide, which lists the highest achieving schools in the nation.

This year has seen the Academy placed 226th nationally and the top performing mixed secondary school in Cheshire East.

Executive Principal Mike Cladingbowl said: “We are absolutely delighted to see Knutsford Academy feature so prominently in this guide. We have seen great improvement in our exam results, including around a third of all grades at being A* or A and a 100 per cent pass at A Level in the sixth form, two years in a row.

“This success is due to our talented and hard-working students and staff. What is especially pleasing is that the top end of the league table features predominantly selective schools. In terms of non-selective schools, the Academy was placed 52nd in the whole of the country, which I am very proud of.”

The guide ranks schools based on examination performance at both GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate and is intended to help parents and children when selecting a school.
