KNUTSFORD town centre has welcomed its newest addition, an antique shop with ‘French Chateau’ glamour.

Tatton Interiors, based at 4 Minshull Street above Lynette Page makeup store, is run by 70-year-old grandmother-of-five Francesca Archer.

Francesca, a formal local Government employee, said that she is proving age is ‘no barrier to radically changing the direction of one’s life’.

The shop, offers highly decorative and interior pieces sourced world-wide and curated by Francesca herself.

She said: “As every fellow antique dealer will tell you, searching for your next treasure becomes an addictive all-consuming lifestyle choice absorbing you 24 hours a day and wherever you may roam.”

The colourful shop, which is adorned with a mix of eclectic pieces, has already been commissioned for fashion magazine and wedding photoshoots.

Francesca also hires out film and theatre props to the Royal Shakespeare Company.

She told the Guardian that customers to Tatton Interiors can expect to find ‘French Chateau glamour’, English country house pieces, exotic taxidermy and architectural and courtyard garden elements.

Francesca is no stranger to the world of antiques, and has got more than 40 years of experience in dealing.

But Tatton Interiors is her first solo venture showcasing her collection and what she calls her ‘unique decorative style’.

The art-enthusiast appeared at this year’s Arley Hall Fine Art and Antiques Fair in September and has made numerous TV appearances including BBC’s Antiques Road Trip, Bargain Hunt, Salvage Seekers on the History Channel and more recently with Drew Pritchard star of Salvage Hunters. Her next appearance on the show will be on Wednesday, November 30 at 9pm on Quest, repeated at 8pm on Friday, December 2.

Francesca said that she travels ‘far and wide’ in pursuit of treasures to please her customers, and that she is left very little time to pursue her other loves of micro-light flying, polo, sailing and seascape painting.

Tatton Interiors is now open and can be accessed from Minshull Street or via the rear entrance on Tatton Street.
