Knutsford 5-2 Urmston

GRAEME Wolfenden scored a second-half hat-trick as Knutsford came from behind twice to beat Urmston.

It leaves them fourth in the North West Men’s League top flight ahead of a trip to Blackpool this Saturday.

They trailed early on at Westfield Drive, their guests scoring on the counter after a short-corner routine broke down.

Wolfenden spent five minutes in the sin bin for dissent, but he was back on the pitch when Simon Trenbirth steered in an equaliser following a neat raid down the right.

They were punished for sloppy marking shortly after the interval, leaving an opposing player unmarked to bury a shot in the bottom corner.

The Black Knights restored parity straightaway, Tom Lewis finding the net at the second attempt after his initial effort was blocked.

It was a catalyst for the home team to assume control, and Wolfenden racked up a quick-fire treble from short corners.

The first two were struck low out of the goalkeeper’s reach while the third, after Lewis had been fouled in the D, deceived defenders by creeping under the crossbar.

At 5-2, the game was up.

A reckless challenge on Mat Hodge saw Urmston lose a man, while Stuart Kenyon received a green card after losing his cool in the aftermath.
