Knutsford 4-4 Lymm

AS they had done seven days earlier, Knutsford levelled with time running out to secure a share of the spoils.

Graeme Wolfenden was their hero, staying calm to convert from a short corner to complete a recovery that started when the Black Knights trailed 3-1 at the interval.

Their target at Southport this weekend will be not to give their opponents a head-start.

The visitors to Westfield Drive took the lead early on Saturday, although Wolfenden finished a short-corner routine emphatically to restore parity.

However Lymm converted their pressure into goals on two more occasions before the break, prompting the Black Knights to change formation.

It brought a dividend when Keelan Sherwani slotted in a second for the home team after sprinting clear of his marker on the left flank.

An equaliser followed when skipper Dave Price converted a penalty stroke awarded after a defender illegally stopped a goal-bound attempt from a set piece.

Lymm did not wilt though, and got their noses in front at 4-3 with a fine finish after Knutsford had defended sloppily.

Goalkeeper Tom Wright then kept the hosts in the contest with a stunning double stop, but his teammates toiled to convert any of the chances they created at the other end.

That was until Wolfenden found the net with a close contest’s final touch.
