A FUNDRAISER at St Vincent’s Parish Hall has raised £3,000 for cancer charity The Christie.

A large crowd attended the charity evening, which included performances from Celtic Toes and the Catenian choir, raised money for Proton therapy and a new unit which is currently under construction at the hospital in Manchester.

Bill Gore, of the parish and co-organiser of the event, has had a long association with The Christie after they operated and helped him recover from a very serious and aggressive form of cancer.

Bill said he is ‘thrilled to still be here’ and determined to do what he can to promote the work of the charity.

"The Christie is the leader in the fight against Cancer,” he said. “I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown here towards this great charity."

This evening was a parish event managed by The Knutsford Catenians and Friends Choir and was led by Bill and John Ross.

Cllr James Power who attend the event said: "A huge thank you must go to the very talented performers and for the extraordinary generosity of the residents who turned up to support this event."
