A KNUTSFORD retail group has given away a £500 bike as part of a collaborative competition to get people involved with the Tour of Britain.

Knutsford One, a group of retailers and businesses in the town, who have come together to create events and activities to encourage community engagement, gave away the bike as part of a quiz devised around the bike trail through the town.

Participants were asked to follow the map of bikes, collecting a letter at specific points to spell out the winning word ‘velodrome’.

Lindsay O’Brien was presented with the bike by Paul Bonner from Bikes ‘N’ Gear in King Street. The bike was given at cost to Knutsford One who chipped in to purchase it.

Nicky Hutton, business development manager for Knutsford One, said: “As the Tour of Britain was coming to Knutsford, Knutsford One wanted to create a fun activity that local people and visitors alike could engage with and not only follow the trail to be in with a chance of winning a £500 bike but also to encourage everyone to walk around the town and see what we have to offer.

“The winner was chosen randomly out of a hat from all of the entries and her son, who she decided to get the bike for, was thrilled with his new bike.

“We will all be coming together again soon to support the Pumpkin Path and many other events that are coming up around Christmas and the new year.”
