TRIBUTES have been paid after two men from Holmes Chapel were killed in a light-aircraft crash in Powys, Wales on Sunday.

The men have been named locally as 25-year-old Scott Penlington and Nick Jeffries. Dyfed-Powys Police has released a statement to say that the crash occurred just before midday on Sunday, September 18 and that two males died in the incident- however official identification is yet to be confirmed.

The Police statement said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a fatal microlight aircraft collision that occurred near Cwmbach, Builth Wells.

“Next of kin have been advised and are being supported by police Family Liaison Officers.

H.M.Coroner has been advised.

“The Independent Air Accidents Investigation Branch is also conducting an investigation.”

Tributes have poured in for Scott via Facebook, with people calling him a ‘good-hearted guy’ and an ‘absolute legend’.

Nathan Falconer was amongst many who posted heartfelt tributes to Scott: “Completely hit for six. My heart goes out to the Penlington and Jeffries families. My friends are my family and I lost one of my closest buddies yesterday. From cheeky, curly haired Chin to a person I felt privileged to able to call my friend - I loved every minute of it and thanks for all the memories.”

Jack Rea posted: “Can't believe what I'm reading, gutted. Pleasure to of known such a top lad growing up through high school and friday nights out in HC, you'l be missed by so many. RIP Chin.”

Alex Moss also wrote: “So sad to hear the news that one of my oldest friends I grew up with Scott Penlington has passed away in a light aircraft crash.

“It was only a few days ago I was chatting to Scott when I was in Ibiza. I can't even talk about it with anyone it's too sad.

“Scott was a good hearted guy who will be missed forever by everyone who knows him. Today is one of the truly saddest days of my life hearing this news. R.I.P Scott, one of my oldest friends.”
