A CHILDREN’S charity is appealing for sponsors for its annual family fun day which raises vital funds each year.

The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, in Millington, is set to hold its 15th yearly family event on Sunday, September 25 and is hoping to gain the help of the community to make it a success.

Rob Bashforth, community fundraiser for CAFT, is organising the event, which will contribute to the £1 million fundraising target that CAFT must meet each year to continue running to the same capacity.

“Last year’s Family Fun Day raised an amazing £5,500 and had over 1,000 visitors, but we’re finding it increasingly difficult to secure sponsorship for this and our other events,” said Rob “If we can secure sponsorship that means even more money will be raised at the event, which means we can help even more children.

“That’s why we’re now appealing for sponsors to come forward to pledge their support. Donations of all sizes will be welcome and acknowledged in the event programme – anything from £10 to £10,000.

“There’s so much going on at this year’s event that we’ve extended it by an hour to fit everything in.

“It’s always such a fun, lively day, a great opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate the work we're doing here at the Adventure Farm.”

The charity provides holidays and daytrips to terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West every year.

Patrons include comedians John Bishop and Jason Manford and 70’s rock legend Noddy Holder.

Dame Sarah Storey, who is currently competing in the Rio Paralympics, is also Patron of the charity.

This year’s event will include many attractions such as children’s fairground rides, face painting from Elmscott Day Nursery, live music and magic, including the cast of Knutsford Musical Theatre Company’s forthcoming production of The Wizard of Oz. There will also be the usual collection of fun inflatables, stalls and games.

The free entry event will run from 1pm til 5pm, and the charity are confident in the region of 1,000 visitors will join them on the day.
