A CAVALCADE of vintage Rolls-Royces will lead four days of events celebrating Knutsford's heritage from 1016 to 2016.

Organisers of the first town-wide Knutsford Heritage Open Days festival have confirmed a total 34 events/sites are taking part in the event which runs from Thursday, September 8 to Sunday, September 11.

"This will be a fantastic celebration of Knutsford's history, from the keynote 'Cheshire and the Viking World' lecture by Professor Richard Morris at Tabley House to the 'Dance in the Royal George Ballroom event where Knutsfordians can remember all those weddings and celebrations they enjoyed in the former hotel," said Sarah Flannery of the Knutsford Promenades community association.

The Rolls-Royce cavalcade has been organised by John Beecroft, chairman of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club Northern Section.

It will assemble on the cobbles outside Knutsford's former Crown Court building which is in the process of being redeveloped as the Court House Hotel.

The Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts are also staging a special exhibition celebrating the life of Frederick Henry Royce which will be on display in the Court House Hotel.

"Thanks to Rolls-Royce Manchester and the Court House Hotel, this will be a unique opportunity for people to see inside the former Crown Court building before its transformation begins," said Sarah.

Other new events added to the programme include 'A Victorian Beauty' at Knutsford Medi and Beauty Spa, the chance to reminisce about the 1997 general election with former MP Martin Bell, and children's activities at Waterstones celebrating Roald Dahl 100 and author Alison Uttley.

Most events do not require pre-booking but for those that do, places are filling up fast.

"Our private house tours of some of the town's most iconic homes are proving very popular with bookings being made by people from across the North West which shows just what a draw Heritage Open Days is for towns taking part," said Sarah.

"We'd urge any Knutsfordians who haven't yet booked to make their choices quickly!"
