IT attracts around 80,000 visitors over five days and it is now in its 18th year at Tatton Park.

The RHS Flower Show is the biggest horticultural event in the region and one of the main attractions in Cheshire’s social calendar.

To celebrate the county being in full bloom again we have put together a special edition of our entertainment supplement Weekend dedicated to the event inside this week's paper.

The show brings together so many talented people from across Cheshire so we wanted to capture a snapshot of that with stories behind some of the main gardens and how they came together.

Most of the pictures were taken by Guardian photographer Dave Gillespie who has done a fantastic job of showing what a colourful, vibrant celebration it is, while reporters Rachel Howarth and David Morgan were out and about speaking to visitors to the Knutsford show.

One of the main show gardens this year was Tatton Park’s own Big Friendly Giant to tie in with the release of Steven Spielberg’s The BFG and mark the 100th year since Roald Dahl’s birth.

Other highlights at this year’s show included a new Evolution Gardens category and Talks Theatre in the Floral Marquee with talks from the likes of Carol Klein  and Monty Don.

We also focus on the success story of school gardens and why teachers think it is important to encourage the next generation of gardeners.

It's all inside this week's paper and for even more pictures from the day, click through our gallery above.
