A KNUTSFORD starlet has used her international fame to raise money and awareness for The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

12-year-old Ruby Barnhill, who has the leading role as Sophie in Steven Spielberg’s new adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic, The BFG, held a film premiere at The Curzon cinema on Thursday, July 21.

The sold out event saw 175 of Ruby’s family and friends come together to celebrate her success whilst raising more than £3,000 for the charity which is based in Little Millington.

Pippa Watton, from CAFT helped to organise the event and was delighted to attend. “This was such a special and unique night which we feel truly honoured to have been part of,” she said.

“We are so proud of Ruby for what she has achieved and very grateful that she and her family decided they would like to use this opportunity to raise funds for our charity.

“We must thank The Curzon for making this event possible – they donated their venue for the evening and we couldn’t have done it without them.

“Also, I’d like to thank Lightech who donated their time and expertise to make the foyer look so beautiful and photographer Paul Worpole who covered the event.

“The money raised will change the lives of so many very special children from our region, we really can’t thank them, and everyone who attended, enough.”

The Barnhill’s relationship with the charity will continue as they are hoping that Sophie will be visiting them for their special Roald Dahl themed Fun Day next month to read to the children.

Ruby is also hoping to attend their annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, September 26 when she will be available to meet guests and discuss her amazing experience.
