KNUTSFORD Academy has put on a show stopping performance to mark the end of another academic year.

The school’s summer production of the Wizard of Oz saw students from Year Seven to Year Nine take to the stage alongside Boa Hairdressing’s pooch, Darcy, as Dorothy’s beloved Toto.

The show, which took place from July 11 to July 13, included more than 80 students who rehearsed for more than two months beforehand.

Anna Collins, who played the lead role of Dorothy, said: “Doing this amazing show has honestly been an incredible opportunity. All the cast are really great to work with and I’m thankful to everyone.”

More than 700 people attended, including Knutsford Town Mayor, Cllr Jan Nicholson, who Tweeted: “Well, I can honestly say that @Knutsfordac Wizard of Oz was spectacular & worthy of the West End! Well done everyone.”

Matthew Sheldon, Academy teacher and director of the show, added: “We are so proud of the students and the dedication, commitment and professionalism they have shown to make The Wizard of Oz such a success, even more impressive is that for the Year Sevens this was their first experience of being involved in one our productions.”
