A DRIVER and a passenger had a lucky escape after a car was in collision with a tractor on Saturday morning.

As a result of the collision between the VW car and a John Deere tractor and trailer the front of the tractor ended on top of the car, which was badly damaged and ended up on its side.

The collision happened at about 11.40am on the A50 Warrington Road at High Legh, near the Mere and Tabley community centre.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said the car driver and passenger managed to free themselves from the VW, and were handed into the care of paramedics.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said two people suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision, and were taken to hospital.

Fire engines from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Winsford attended the incident, and firefighters made the scene safe.

Police closed nearby roads while the incident was dealt with.
