MEMBERS of Knutsford’s Canute Lunch Club invited guests to join them for a celebration of the Queen’s 90th Birthday on Tuesday, June 14.

The party took place at Toft Cricket Club on Chelford Road, where the pavilion had been ornately decorated for the occasion.

Knutsford Town Mayor, Cllr Jan Nicholson, attended the event and proposed the toast to the Queen.

Other guests included the lunch club’s patron and deputy town mayor Cllr Neil Forbes and two of Knutsford’s oldest residents Ada McNamara and Helen Townsend who are both 100 years old.

The afternoon tea was served as music was provided by David Kershaw.

Yvonne Baker, treasurer of the club, said: “It was a memorable and enjoyable afternoon for all those who attended.

“I would like to thank Toft Cricket Club and the pavilion organiser Sarah Drummond for their support. We provide lunches and social activities for our members every Tuesday and Thursday.”
