A HORSE hospital is marking its 25th anniversary with a family fun event.

Ashbrook Equine Hospital in Middlewich Road in Allostock which is part of the independently owned Willows Veterinary Group, will host a range of ‘horsey’ family activities on Saturday, July 2 from 12pm to 5pm.

There will be pony hopper races, a rodeo horse, children’s face painting and a chance to see the hospital’s veterinary team including head vets Roger Dixon and Kerry Comb in the stocks.

Teams from the local fire brigade equine unit and World Horse Welfare charity, which both work closely with Ashbrook will be in attendance and guests will be able to listen to equine talks and watch horse bandaging displays.

There will also a tour of the purpose-built hospital which is Cheshire’s only Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Approved Tier 3 Equine Hospital.

Roger Dixon, who heads up the team, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to come and see what Ashbrook is all about and the excellent expertise we can offer to horses and their owners.

“Marking our 25th anniversary is important because we are proud of the hospital’s longevity and commitment to providing the best possible care to the horses we look after.

“It’s a significant milestone in our history and we are looking forward to celebrating this important date in the hospital’s history with as many people as possible.”

The hospital has stabling for 16 horses including a separate isolation facility. It has a full surgical suite and a diagnostic suite where radiography and ultrasound are carried out.

There is also an in-house laboratory service, a designated reproductive area and a forge. A nurse is also on site at Ashbrook 24 hours a day to watch over the horses,
