A CAR chase starting in Macclesfield reached its dramatic conclusion on the outskirts of Lower Withington, with the vehicle smashing into a garden fence before overturning close to Jodrell Bank.

A resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Guardian that the car ‘demolished’ his fence at the property on the A535, - before spinning off and overturning around 30 yards down the road.

The incident occurred at around 11pm on Wednesday, June 15.

Two 25-year-old men from Sandbach have been arrested but Cheshire Police have not provided any more details to date.

A statement from the police, said: “At around 11pm on Wednesday 15 June, officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle travelling along Moss Lane, Macclesfield.

“Officers were authorised to follow the vehicle at a safe distance, but a short time later the vehicle overturned on the A535.

“Ambulance were called to the scene as a precaution but the occupants of the vehicle were uninjured.”

The resident, who captured images and video of the aftermath, said that the result could have been a lot worse.

“There are lots of windy roads from Macclesfield to Jodrell Bank,” the resident said. “It could have been a lot worse.

“The chase must have been high speed. It hit a post and swirled off onto its roof. If there had been any oncoming vehicles then there would have been a fatality.”
