FEARS over a man carrying a ‘large knife' at a Knutsford garden centre have been dispelled after police reveal that the man was just a regular customer.
On Tuesday, June 14 just after 10am, police received reports of the man, described as in his 60s with thick grey hair, carrying the knife in Fryers Roses on Manchester Road.
According to witnesses, the man entered the building with and walked around before leaving, causing bystanders to become concerned.
However, police have confirmed that they have located the man, and on further investigation established that he was looking for a new part for a saw.
“The man has been spoken to,” said a police spokesperson. “He explained that he was looking for a placement head for his saw and took it in with him.”
The case is now closed.
