KNUTSFORD Tennis Club was awash with colour on Sunday, May 22 as more than 500 people were doused in paint as they completed the 4k Colour Run.

The route, which started at Knutsford Sports Club, took participants around the outside of the cricket field and Knutsford Football club’s pitch as they were doused in dye made from biodegradable corn starch.

The event was in aid of the tennis club, and received sponsorship from a number of Knutsford businesses.

Moya Meredith, secretary of Knutsford Tennis Club, said: “The event was a huge success, raising funds for Knutsford Tennis Club’s courts refurbishment programme as well as money for local Scout Groups and Girl Guides.

“As runners waited to start each race, clouds of colour billowed over everyone covering hair and clothes with a kaleidoscope of different hues. Music and a short exercise routine got everyone limbered up ready to go.

“Big smiles were evident everywhere you looked and even those reluctant to get colour doused at first were soon laughing and enthusiastically joining in.”

“Louise Nanda and Jules Greaves did an amazing job organising this fantastic event. We all raised a glass of bubbly to them in the bar afterwards.”

Despite concerns about the weather during set up on the Saturday, the rain relented in time for the first race and the sun made an appearance by the third race.

Louise, who organised the event, said: “I would like to say that we couldn't have done the colour run without the support of local businesses Clare and Illingworth, Toni & Guy, Sterling Lloyd, Gusto, Sheldons Dairy and Redwood Hire.”
