I LIVE in the sleepy village of Lower Peover... runway of Knutsford. Or so that is how it feels.

The village has a speed limit of 30mph, however, speeding vehicles achieve near take off speeds as they race through the village.

I have wondered why no one in the village parks their vehicles on the road (I have been a resident for a couple of years).

This week I have a tiler who will be doing work on my drive so I decided to park my vehicle road side. Horns over the last few days have sounded out as speeding vehicles have to slow down to pass my vehicle.

This morning I received a visit from the police. At last I thought, the traffic police are hear to help.

“Can you please remove your vehicle?” I was asked.

The policemen then went on to explain that parking outside my house was causing an obstruction to drivers and it was parked near (20 meters from) a bend.

The officer pointed out that he had witnessed four near misses in 20 minutes and only two of those vehicles had probably been speeding. I suggested that my vehicle was not causing an obstruction if drivers concentrated. Few drivers do that I was told. “Move it now or it will be towed” I was told.

I then pointed out to the officer that he had parked in front of my property so why should I not, fair enough he replied and left.

The moral of story is that the police sent two vehicles and two officers to stake out my property because speeding drivers were in danger of being involved in a crash. Can you help, before someone is killed?
