ESTATE agent, Gascoigne Halman, has donated £1,000 of their £25k Community Challenge fund to the Viking Explorer Scout Unit in Holmes Chapel, a group which provides opportunities for young people aged between 14 and 18 years old.

The aim of the scout association is the physical, mental and spiritual development of young people through a wide range of activities including physical activity, development of a skills, volunteering, exhibitions and increasing awareness of environmental issues and community values.

The group also follows the national Queen Scout and Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

The charity has used the money to purchase a traditional canvas mess tent to enable central catering and campsite activities are sheltered out of the rain, allowing the scouts to confidently spend more of the autumn and winter outdoors.

Vince Haynes, treasurer of the Explorer Scout Unit, said: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation from Gascoigne Halman, which will allow us to continue to provide adventurous and varied activities for young people in the community.”

Gascoigne Halman celebrated its 25th anniversary by setting up a £25,000 fund to support local causes.

Their aim was to select charities and community groups that create a positive impact on the community whilst providing long term benefits for the local area.
