OVER Peover's biennial flower festival, 'Saints and Heroes', takes place on the first weekend of June at St Lawrence Church in the village.

The 'Saint' in the title is St Lawrence after whom the church is named, while the 'Heroes' refer to the American troops and General George Patton, who were stationed at Over Peover Hall (adjacent to the church) prior to the D Day landings in WW2.

The Stars and Stripes flag left by the US troops still hangs in the church to this day.

Residents and businesses have given sponsorship to pay for the flowers and the members of Knutsford Floral Design Club will be creating the flower arrangements in the church.

The Festival is open between 10.30am to 5.30pm on Friday, June 3, Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5.

On Saturday evening at 7.30pm there will be a concert in the church given by The Good News Singers led by Barri Dodgson, entry is free and all are welcome.

People attending the festival will be able to visit the gardens to Peover Hall which will be open to the public on the Saturday and Sunday 2pm to 5pm under the National Gardens Scheme.

The Flower Festival has been in the planning for two years and is run by a committee.

Funds raised will go to the upkeep of St Lawrence Church, entry is free but the committee hopes to receive donations from the visitors attending.

Anyone requiring further information should contact the chairperson of the committee, Angela Eccles, who can be contacted on 01625 861314 or via email at angelaeccles@gmail.com.
