A MOTHER and daughter are joining forces and getting their long locks chopped in a bid to raise money for children who have lost their hair.

Ellie and Minnie Cowley will be in the hot seat at Daisy at Mode in Hartford next month when they have their long, blonde hair cut and donated to charity.

Ten-year-old Minnie, who is in year five at Bexton Primary School in Knutsford, came up with the idea after hearing about Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other hair loss conditions such as alopecia.

Minnie, who loves horse riding and gymnastics, will have her hair, which reaches down to her lower back, cut to her shoulders and mum Ellie will be having her hair chopped into a short bob.

Ellie said: "We will each have our hair plaited and then seven inches cut off.

"The hair will then be donated to Little Princess Trust who make it into wigs for children who have lost their hair.

"Minnie is really looking forward to it but I'm a bit nervous.

"I used to have short hair so it's taken years to grow it long again.

"But it will be worth it and it's great to be able to do it with Minnie."

Ellie and Minnie are also organising a raffle to raise extra funds for the charity and prizes include afternoon tea for two at The Lambing Shed, a day pass for two at Anytime Fitness and a 45-minute private riding lesson as well as haircuts at Dads and Lads, a blow dry at Terence Paul and gift vouchers for The White Orchid, Jack Rabbits and Shonni's Little Woodland.
