THE Soprano Rosie Lomas will perform an evening of music and words entitled ‘Music and Matchmaking’ at Tabley House on Monday, May23.
Rosie, dressed in beautiful Georgian costume, will explore love and music as portrayed in Jane Austen’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’ and ‘Emma’.
The concert, starting at 7pm, will include songs from Jane Austen’s own song collection and will feature works by Haydn, Handel, and the well-known ‘Ave Maria’ by Schubert.
"The elegant Georgian Gallery at Tabley House is the perfect period setting for such a concert", said organiser Christopher Tetlow.
"Together with wine and canapés served in the Portico Room it should be a delightful evening and everyone is welcome."
Rosie studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and graduated in 2011.
In the same year she made her operatic debut with English National Opera as American Suburban Girl in the world premiere production of ‘Two Boys’ by Nico Muhly.
She has since performed several times with ENO in the UK, Poland and Australia.
Tickets for the concert are priced at £20 and are available from Christopher Tetlow by calling 0161 928 2137, or emailing christophertetlow@hotmail.co.uk.
