HOLMES Chapel parish councillors are celebrating after receiving a gold status in recognition of excellence, leadership and development.
The National Association of Local Councils awarded Holmes Chapel Parish Council Quality Gold status making it one of only twenty across the country and the first in Cheshire to receive the accolade.
The Quality Gold Award, which is valid for four years, recognises that a council is at the forefront of best practice and achieves excellence in governance, community leadership and council development.
Members of the judging panel said that there was strong evidence that Holmes Chapel Parish Council has a clear view of the needs of the community.
Nicola Clarke, parish council clerk, said: " We're absolutely delighted with the award.
"It's affirmation of what we do in the community.
"We are a pro active council and we're always looking for new projects."
