DEDICATED followers of fashion will be raising money later this month to help people affected by Prader Willi syndrome.

Four years ago friends and relatives of Knutsford youngster Jimmy Wilkinson created a charity calendar after the two-year-old was diagnosed with the condition.

In 2012, Jimmy's Bluebelles posed for the Calendar Girls-style risqué shots to raise vital funds for the PWSA UK.

The latest charity fundraising event, which is a ladies fashion show and pamper evening, will take place at The Cottons Hotel and Spa on Manchester Road in Knutsford, on Thursday, May 26, with discounted clothing by Twisted Muse, beauty treatments provided by Roberta Beauty and make up samples from Daniella Robinson.

May is PWS awareness month which is aimed at highlighting the most common genetic cause of life-threatening childhood obesity.

Prader Willi syndrome is a complex medical condition that affects both males and females throughout their lives and people with PWS may need extra support with health and development.

Most people with PWS are floppy at birth with initial difficulties in feeding, but then in early childhood begin to show increased appetite which can lead to excessive eating and life-threatening obesity.

Family friend Shamander Saleem, who is organising the event and was Miss October in the charity calendar, said: "Jimmy's parents, Kate and James, have a wonderful network of friends and they have supported them since he was born.

"We've always done lots of fundraising and I thought that May being PWS awareness month was a good time to do another event."

Jimmy's dad James and his auntie, Kath Salt, ran this year's London Marathon to raise money for PWS and mum Kate has registered to take part in next year's race.

James and Kate were told that Jimmy, who has two younger sisters called Betty and Nelly, would never walk or talk and he's now able to do both, and also uses sign language to communicate.

Entry to the fundraiser at The Cottons Hotel and Spa, which starts at 6.30pm, is £2 with all proceeds on the night, including a raffle, going to PWS.
