A CHILDREN’S nurse from Knutsford will soon embark on the ‘mission of a lifetime’ in June as she travels to Sri Lanka to assist a hospital and an orphanage.

Anna Dinsmore, 22, who is currently in her second year of paediatric nursing at Edge Hill University, will head to Sri Lanka to provide medical care to hundreds living in poverty.

During the month-long trip, Anna will be based at a hospital in Ambalangoda, working across various departments as well as volunteering at a local orphanage, during which time she will be teaching English as well as conducting sports and games activities for the children to participate in.

“This is a really scary but exciting prospect for me, and I really hope to make a positive difference at both the hospital and orphanage, providing the much needed love and support these developing countries so often need,” said Anna. “I know my time in Sri Lanka will be eye opening and very precious and I intend to make the most of it.

“This is a self-funded trip and I’ve been saving for a while to make this happen, however any donations big or small will help me to make the most of my time over there and to give as much as I can to those in need.”
