OVER Peover will play host to hundreds of the fastest runners in the north west after the Cheshire Athletics Association has included the village in its annual Grand Prix series.
Colshaw Hall’s annual 10k race has been chosen as one of the Grand Prix races, and is expected to reach 1,000 runners in 2016.
The one lap race starts and finishes at the hall, a popular wedding venue and money raised will go to the Mid-Cheshire Riding School for the Disabled.
The race organisers have donated free places to the charity, based in Ollerton, who have recruited a number of runners to take part and raise money through sponsorship.
Mike Harrington, event director, said: “Last year we introduced this race to the Cheshire race calendar and the feedback we received was fantastic. Many runners came and were amazed by the picturesque course and word has spread.
“Some of the great local running clubs like, Altrincham have included this race in their club championships so the standard is even higher and we suspect both the male and female course records will fall.
"The local community have really taken to the race and Over Peover Parish Council have been consulted in the planning too.”
