A NINE-YEAR-OLD Knutsford boy has been nominated for an international children’s award after gaining more than 600,000 followers on YouTube.

Ethan Gamer TV, as he is known on the social media site, has been nominated for the ‘UK Best Tipster’ category in the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2016 for his YouTube channel which shows him giving tips on how to play games and unboxing toys.

Ethan is now up against some of his biggest idols in the video blogging industry, such as ‘Mr. Stampy Cat’ and ‘The Diamond Mine Cart’.

“It feels absolutely amazing,” said Ethan. “It feels incredible to be nominated with some of my favourite YouTubers.

“I would like to thank all my fans for supporting my channel and helping me get nominated for the award. I really appreciate it.”

The awards, which cover a range of categories including ‘best male singer’ with nominees Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran, will be presented at a ceremony in California.

“Sadly, I can’t go as I’ll be in school,” added Ethan.

Ethan began his YouTube career two years ago when he created a channel as part of a ‘father and son’ project.

“He started watching other kids online and started watching people playing video games,” said his father Kevin. “It just went from there. It has grown into something really big. People like to watch him because he is a funny guy.

“I support him with all the technical stuff, but it’s him that the viewers tune in for. This is a massive achievement for Ethan, just to be nominated. We are so proud of him.”

Ethan and his family are now urging Knutsford residents and fans to get online and vote for him, before the cut-off point at the end of the weekend.
