COMMUTERS are facing ongoing delays on the M6 Northbound this morning after a lorry overturned and crushed a lampost in the early hours.
At 3am on Friday, February 5 the lorry, which was carrying furniture, crashed into the roadworks on the J20 link road to the M56.
The incident was cleared at 9am, and the link road has now reopened but traffic has backed up for miles down the M6 past J18.
The crash caused damaged to a lamp column, which has since been removed, causing the slip road to be closed throughout the night.
Drivers were being diverted to J21 to join the southbound carriageway for access to the M56.
A spokesperson for Highways England said: "Highways England Traffic Officers from Knutsford attended and our staff at the North West Regional Control Centre signs were set across the region and signs were also set from our National Traffic Operations Centre in Birmingham to warn drivers further afield such as those in West Midlands."
