A DISUSED grain drying plant and storage site in Goostrey will be demolished and four houses built in its place, if plans are given the go ahead next month.

Hillcrest Homes has submitted a planning application for four family-sized homes complete with car ports to be built at the intersection of Bridge Lane and Bomish Lane, around a central courtyard.

The original outline planning application, which was granted approval in June last year, highlighted that "there is little prospect for the grain store being reinstated" so the existing buildings and storage on the site will be demolished.

In the current application, the architects at The Cave state that "the views into the site will be improved by the demolition of the existing store" and "the quality of the design will add to the character of the area".

The last date for submitting comments about this application is Wednesday, February 17 with a decision expected by Wednesday, March 16.

The site is less than a mile from Jodrell Bank.
