FOLLOWING a flurry of rumours surrounding the future of RHS Tatton Flower Show, the organisation has confirmed that the show will continue indefinitely.

In an exclusive statement to the Guardian, the Royal Horticultural Society confirmed that the show will be taking place in Tatton in 2017 and into the future.

The announcement of a Chatsworth show in 2017 originally sparked rumours amongst residents and businesses, who were concerned that the new launch could spell the end for the annual show at Tatton Park which brings thousands of visitors to the town.

But a statement from an RHS spokesperson said: “RHS Flower Show Tatton Park will be continuing in 2017 and beyond. The show is one of Britain’s most popular gardening events which attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year and is enjoyed by millions of people throughout the UK through the BBC coverage of the show.

“We, and our fantastic partner Cheshire East, are looking forward to an exciting future for the show which in July this year will be packed with the usual spectacular gardens by leading designers, beautiful displays along with exciting new features. Please visit the RHS website, if you would like to buy a ticket.”

Knutsford businessman, Peter Murray, who owns Pulse of Perfumery on Princess Street, has said he is ‘delighted’ that the show is continuing and that he will continue to invest in working with the Royal Horticultural Society and bringing people into the town.

“There’s something magical about this event. One of the things that the town gets from the show is clients that go the event and then come into town.

“There are regulars that come year after year and they are delighted to see Knutsford businesses involved.

“We still believe very much in the RHS show being in Tatton and will continue to invest in it, people love it and it is a great way to get people into Knutsford and promote our town.”
