A KNUTSFORD hairdresser is celebrating after a ‘fantastic’ debut charity ball raising more than £1,000 in just two hours.

Mark Boa, owner of Boa Hairdressing on King Street, has thanked everyone who was involved in helping him host his first Christmas charity extravaganza hosted at the salon on November 18 and is looking forward to making it an annual event.

More than 100 people filled the salon for an evening of beauty tips, a raffle led by Key 103’s Mike Toolan, and plenty of Prosecco, getting through around 35 bottles throughout the event.

The money, which was raised from raffle tickets, will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support, Children’s Adventure Farm Trust and the David Lewis Centre.

“It was a really successful evening,” said Mark. “We were a little bit nervous about the outcome because it was our first Christmas charity event but more than 100 people came to the salon, which is just fantastic.

“The prizes were wonderful and we had a special company come to set up the red carpet so it looked lovely and very professionally done.”

The idea for the charity bash came about when Mark decided to invite people along to learn more about how to do their hair especially for the festive season.

But as the concept grew he realised that more and more traders were interested in helping out the team and the raffle prizes came flooding in.

He said: “We want to thank all of the businesses who donated prizes, especially the new shop opening across the road, Senso Tiempo, who donated 10 watches to us. They were our biggest contributor and they were absolutely brilliant.

“I would also like to give a special thanks to Piccolino who provided the food. The staff were amazing and the food was perfect.

“We are going to do this every single year and make it a regular feature at the salon. It was fantastic to be able to give something back.”
