A MOBBERLEY cafe has marked a year in business by holding a party for villagers.
Cate Hulme opened Quirkeee Cafe on Town Lane in November 2014.
"It's not easy in the first year but I have been really lucky and the customers have been lovely and they have taken me to heart," she said.
"We get a lot of regulars and they have become an extra family for me.
"They are all very appreciative and understand the village needs a cafe so they come and support us. We get quite a few people who travel quite a long way because we have our brand coffee."
Cate was a chartered accountant working in the world of finance but decided she wanted a change of scenery.
"I grew up in a bakery in Bowdon Vale as my grandma was a baker and it was something I always wanted to do," she said.
"I had a chat with my son when I returned from holiday, gave up my job and looked around to open a cafe. Some would say a mid-life crisis but I would say there is more to life than work.
"Every morning I wake up I look forward to coming to work."
