MPs will question the managing director of Volkswagen Group UK over the emissions scandal next week.

Paul Willis is due to give evidence to the Transport Select Committee on Monday afternoon.

Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin is also due to appear before the committee.

The emissions scandal was sparked by US environmental regulators who found VW had installed software that disabled pollution controls when diesel vehicles were not being tested.

Close to 1.2 million vehicles are affected in the UK.

A recall is expected to start in the new year with the aim of having all affected cars fixed by the end of 2016.

The committee is due to ask Mr McLoughlin what steps the Government is taking to "restore public confidence" in vehicle testing.
