KNUTSFORD’S very own answer to Glastonbury took place at the weekend, welcoming revellers from across the town to enjoy some Bank Holiday fun for a good cause.

LeghFest, a two day music charity festival took place at the Legh Arms on Brook Street on Saturday and Sunday, raising more than £1,000 for The Christie.

The event which was organised by Legh Arms owners Zoe and Matt Blythe, cost guests £5 a day to enjoy five local bands and a comedian as well as a range of craft ales and ciders.

Despite an unfortunate technical blip on the Saturday night, which rendered the sound system out of order until the following day, more than 500 party-goers did not let anything dampen their spirits.

Zoe said: “The event went really well. We have a power outage so the amps blew and there was nothing we could do about it until the next day, but everyone just carried on partying.

“Halfway Home, who were playing at the time, just carried on and did an acoustic set. Unfortunately the final band couldn’t play but they have played at the pub before, they will again and they still got paid.

“Sunday was fantastic. The bands from both days went down really well. Adam Armstrong put together a band just for LeghFest and they were phenomenal.

“There were people dancing on the tables. We were just amazed by the turn out. Both days were slow starters but come five or six o clock the garden was just absolutely packed.”

LeghFest saw bands local bands such as Run No Run and The Last Request, with some entertainment coming even closer to home in the form of landlady Zoe who gave a vocal performance with guitarist Dave Boardman.

“We will be doing it again next year,” said Zoe. “There were so many bits that we learned to do better than last year, It will just keep getting better and better.”
