GOOSTREY’s two day annual folk festival is set to storm through the village and this year’s line up is the most ambitious yet.

The year for the first time, the annual arts festival Goosfest, will take place over a two week period to incorporate ‘Folk at the Marquee’.

Amid a spectacular line-up is headline act BRIT-award winning singer Beverley Craven as well as eighties band China Crisis and Classical FM favourite Craig Ogden.

As well as musical entertainment, there will be an evening with Sunny Ormonde, who plays Lilian Bellamy in BBC Radio 4’s The Archers and Antiques Roadshow expert Eric Knowles.

William Ollier one of Goosfest’s organisers said: “The full programme is yet to be finalised but the Goosfest committee have already secured award winning guitar Scottish Wingin’ It, famous songwriter Boo Hewerdine and Edwina Hayes whose performance drew in rave reviews at her previous appearance in 2013.

“In the nine years since Goosfest first began, Folk at the Marquee is by far the most ambitious event.

“By holding it in a marquee we will be able accommodate more than 200 each day which would not be possible in any other venue in the village.

“We believe this two day bonanza of talent will be a real treat for folk music fans but we have deliberately made the line up as varied as possible in order to appeal to as wide an audience.

“Since its humble beginnings in 2006, Goosfest has always tried to push the envelope and we are justly proud that it is now one of the best music and arts festivals in the North West and we are confident that Folk at the Marquee will take us to a whole new level.”

The folk event will be held over the weekend of 10 and 11 October on the Goostrey School field from 1pm to 10.30pm each day.

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday September 1 on www.goosfest.com
