THE manager of a Knutsford hair salon has arranged a birthday party to commemorate the owner, who died just over a year after its opening.

Pamela Davies, at King Street’s Cartman and Mason, decided to celebrate the life of the salon’s proprietor, Peter Cartman in a special anniversary celebration on Saturday evening.

Peter, who was 40 years old when he passed away from cancer in October 2014, started the salon on King Street as part of his life’s dream.

Pamela said: “It was our second year anniversary on the Friday and the first birthday that Peter wasn’t here so we thought we would tie them in together.

“Peter had cancer already when he opened the salon but it was his dream to do it. He didn’t know how bad it was until a couple of months after it opened.

“I worked with him for around 10 years. He was a well-known and well-loved man who lived and grew up in Knutsford, he was a local guy.

Pamela, along with other staff at Cartman and Mason, arranged a party in the salon, with celebratory drinks and food before heading to the Heath to let off balloons in Peter’s memory.

“He would’ve liked it,” said Pamela. “He was a social guy and enjoyed a good party.”
