TATTON Park staff are celebrating after receiving a prestigious award which places it as one of the best parks in the country.

The 2,000 acre estate has been given its 11th ‘Green Flag Award’ which certifies it as a top quality park or green space.

Tatton Park attracts more than 800,000 visitors a year who come from across the country to enjoy the grounds, mansion and resident wildlife.

Brendan Flanagan, head of countryside, culture and visitor economy, said: “Green flag celebrates our achievements against a national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK showing once again the quality that Tatton offers.

“ However, we are particularly proud that we also have Green Heritage Accreditation once again as this recognises our heritage value, how we share that with visitors and our continuing efforts to conserve, enhance and help people enjoy the heritage of the site.”

More than 1,500 parks have received the Green Flag Award this year, and the news is perfectly timed during Love Parks Week, which runs from Friday July 24 until Sunday August 2.

Paul Todd, International Green Flag Award scheme manager, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.

“All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
