A MARIE CURIE nurse who has cared for hundreds of people is leading the charity’s annual fundraising walk in Knutsford.

Sylvia Spilling, 71, will speak at the start of the 10km Walk to Remember at Tatton Park on August 8, where she will be supported by six members of her family.

The twilight walk, which will start at 6.30pm, will raise funds to allow Marie Curie nurses to continue their crucial work.

Sylvia, who is due to retire, said: “Being a Marie Curie nurse has definitely been the best job I have ever had. I retire this year and it’s going to take me a long time to get over it.

“I have met some lovely people and made some lovely friends.

“Marie Curie do so much good. They can help people die at home and they look after them. They need funds to be able to do it. The more people to join in and support us the better.”

The 10km walk is expected to draw in hundreds of people from across the north west, and is open to people of all ages and abilities.

There will also be a post-walk celebration with live music, entertainment and fireworks at 10pm.

Pre-registration is £10 and £20 on the day.
