TWO teenagers have set up a new radio station for Holmes Chapel, Twemlow and Goostrey.

Richard Mark, 19 and Bill Armstrong-Mortlock, 18, have joined forces to launch Dane Sound Community Radio.

It will be broadcasting on 87.7 FM and online from July 27 for a pilot four-week period until August 23.

The station will feature music, interviews, features and shows presented by community-based hosts and will fill an ambitious schedule of programmes every day from 7am to 9pm.

Dane Sound was founded by Richard, technical Director, and Bill, 18, promotions manager, and is supported by a team of volunteers from the community.

The station is non-profit-making, but fund-raising and advertising revenues have covered costs to date.

"The community has been fantastic in giving the project its enthusiastic backing from the very start," said Bill, who has served on the Holmes Chapel Partnership at Youth Rep since 2014.

The station will have its temporary office base in the Scout Building, London Road, Holmes Chapel.
