A RESIDENTIAL care home put on a very imaginative show to visitors in the community during National Care Home Open Day.

On Friday June 19, Sunrise of Mobberley celebrated the in style by inviting people from across the area to join in a day packed full of art and music.

Residents were joined by families and friends, as the senior living community celebrated the special role that art plays in helping those living with dementia and other forms of memory loss.

Guests were invited to look around an exhibition, which featured the best works from Sunrise’s 27 communities, including the Mobberley centre.

The exhibition is part of the Art of Sunrise campaign, championing art for older people.

John Harrison, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Mobberley, said: “The exhibition is fantastic and it is a real celebration of our residents’ passion for art. We often hold events like this and it is very refreshing to see new faces and meet people from the local community. ”

Sunrise are using the art classes as a method of relaxation and expression for the residents, as well as a tool to help keep their minds active as well as a form of therapy.

As part of the campaign, Sunrise ran an art competition for pupils from Mobberley Primary School, and pupil, Amy Knorbury, managed to scoop the top prize during the visit.

Celebrations also included champagne and canapés, with entertainment provided by singer, Laney, who gave a rendition of songs from yesteryear.
