TEAM mates from Woodside Golf have clubbed together to make money for a cancer charity with a 72 hole match.
Lady Captain, Sue Powner, and her fellow golfers, Vice Captain George Ross, Patricia Stott and John Lewis, took on the Macmillian ‘longest day golf challenge’.
On June 21, the team played 72 holes of golf, teeing off at around 4am in the morning, finishing while the sun was still up.
Sue said: “It was barely light when we met in the car park along with our caddies at 4am, but we set off in anticipation of the day and our intention to take on the challenge and raise as much money as we could for Macmillan cancer services.
“We finished in fine style more than 13 hours later. We don't yet have a final figure of how much we raised but know it will hopefully be in excess of our target of £2000.”
The team, known collectively as Woodside Wanderers, wrote on their fundraising page: “We have all lost or know someone who has had cancer and found the Macmillan support fantastic.”
