THE Knutsford U3A celebrated its 10 year anniversary this week with their annual general meeting and a tea set for 130 people.

On Thursday May 14 the University of the Third Age invited members to celebrate 10 years of the education-led society.

The group is made up of around 600 predominantly retired and semi-retired members who join to expand their knowledge in a whole range of subject areas.

Lynda Harris, Chair of the Knutsford U3A, said: “It is a great social thing particularly to mix and meet new people.

“There are all sorts of people who join; those who have been recently bereaved, or have just moved to the area and do not know anyone as well as people who just want to pursue something new.”

“It provides an opportunity for people to develop their interests in anything they want to. We have five book groups, six walking groups, painting and drawing, wine tasting-which is quite popular, geology and so much more.”

The anniversary celebration took place at St John’s Church on Church Hill.
