A GIANT man-eating plant will cause all sorts of trouble in Hartford this week.

Knutsford Musical Theatre Company (KMTC) brings a new production of the comedy, science fiction, spoof musical Little Shop of Horrors to The Grange Theatre, in Bradburns Lane from today, Wednesday, until Saturday, May 23.

The group's biggest challenge is the show's famous plant, which needs four separate puppets as it grows and develops during the show.

It starts with a hand-held puppet but grows to a puppet that needs three people inside to manipulate it in time with the script and the singing.

The giant plant was delivered to the theatre on Saturday, giving the cast just a few rehearsals with it until the show starts today, Wednesday, May 20.

The musical was made famous in the 1980’s with the classic cult version starring Rick Moranis as Seymour and features the songs 'Somewhere That’s Green' and 'Suddenly Seymour'.

Down on his luck, Seymour Krelborn spends his days slaving away in Mr. Musnik’s Florists, mooning over the glamorous and ditsy assistant Audrey, and dreaming of a way out of downtown Skid Row.

Then one day, Seymour stumbles upon a strange and exotic new plant that could change his luck forever – but it is not an ordinary shrub.

Tickets are available online at ticketsource.co.uk/thegrangetheatre or by ringing the box office on 0333 666 3366.

For Wednesday and Thursday performances there will be tickets on the door for the concession price of £12 for anyone that quotes 'Northwich Guardian'.
