KNUTSFORD is gearing up for its biggest weekend of the year with the 151st Royal May Day.

The event will take place around the town on Saturday, May 2.

But the popular fair is now in place on the Heath, and will open from Thursday until next Bank Holiday Monday.

The organiser of this year’s fun fair have will have up to 100 rides including the UK’s largest travelling Cyclone rollercoaster. which spins as it travels along almost half-a-kilometre of hairpin turns and dips.

The funfair will be open on Thursday and Friday Fri from 6pm until late and on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 1pm until late.

Entry is free and plenty of parking is available on and around The Heath, although restrictions will be in place on Saturday afternoon when the May Day Festival is in full swing.

Manchester based John Collins, whose family has been running the event for a number of years said: “Knutsford is the UK’s biggest funfair and an annual highlight on our touring schedule.”

“Last year, for the 150th anniversary, we assembled one of the best selection of attractions for years but there was one thing missing according to visitor feedback a Spinning Coaster, so we have also added it add it to the line-up for 2015."

On Saturday, 15 central town roads will be closed and diversions will be in place between 10am and 4pm The parade starts at Church Hill at 2pm and takes approximately ninety minutes to The Heath.

A free firework display will also light up the sky on Sunday night.
