WATER supplies were cut to properties across Knutsford this afternoon after a power cable failed.
The failure caused many people to lose their water while other homes and business had a reduced supply.
A spokesman for United Utilities said a power cable at one of its pumping stations had failed and cause the disruption to supplies across the WA16 postcode.
The spokesman told the Guardian at 3.30pm that the fault had been rectified but it would take up to one hour for pressure to build up once again in pipes.
He added: "If anyone is still affected after that time please call our 24 hour helpline on 0345 6723723."
