VISITORS to Tatton Park over the May Bank Holiday weekend will be transported back to the court of Henry VIII and his courtiers.

The royal entourage will be taking up residence at the National Trust property as part of a spectacular outdoor family festival, Tudors on Tour.

The festival is being staged for the first time outside London by Historic Royal Palaces, and will take visitors back to 1526 and the excitement of the Tudor Court on Royal Progress, when the King would travel around the country staying in castles and the manor houses of nobility.

Visitors can expect an action-packed day, including a spectacular royal jousting tournament, pageantry displays with music, a bustling market place with traditional crafts such as carving, stone masonry and blacksmithing, costumed characters, authentic stories, food, Tudor farm and Tudor theatre and digital pop-up palace.

Tudors on Tour will take place from Saturday, May 2 to Monday, 4 at Tatton Park.

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity which cares for six royal palaces including the Tower of London and Hampton Court.

It raises all its own funds and depends on the support of its visitors, members, donors, sponsors and volunteers.
