LEXIE McIntosh has told the Guardian she is very excited about being crowned Mobberley Rose Queen on June 6.

Lexie, 12, who goes to Alderley Edge School for Girls, was picked at the 2015 Mobberley Rose Queen Choosing at the Victory Hall.

She will be joined by her ladies in waiting, Mia Corrie and Amelia Thomas-Wade.

"I am very excited and it will be a great honor to be Rose Queen," she said.

“It will be lots of fun and a laugh with my friends.”

After taking part in the parade, Lexie will make her Rose Queen speech.

“I will thank everyone in my speech for the great experience of being Rose Queen," she added.

Lexie’s mum, Keely McIntosh, told the Guardian that Lexie was very excited about taking part in the choosing.

“She was so excited on the day," said Keely.

“Last year she was a lady in waiting.

“She was really nervous because she wanted to be the Rose Queen so much.

“It’s a really nice part of village life to take part in something like this.”

Lorraine Henshall, chair of the Mobberley Rose Queen committee, explained why Lexie stood out as this year’s choice.

“Lexie is very confident and she didn’t fidget," she said.

“The Rose Queen goes to other events so she has to be confident.”

The girls are asked why they want to be Rose Queen by the the five judges, who were from Northwich and Poynton and a new resident from Mobberley.

Lorraine added that each year the event becomes more popular with people, on the day, coming from all over the county so the committee are already working hard organising the event from road closures to traders and toilets.

“Everyone on the committee gives everything and we always ask everyone from the village to join in and help us," she said.

“It’s all worthwhile in the end.

“The highlight of the day is when I see all the children leaving the hall, after all our hard work.

"It looks lovely and I get a tear in my eye.

“It is a lovely day.”

This year’s procession and festival is on Saturday, June 6.
