KNUTSFORD Makers Market is gearing up for its first market of the 2015 – with the promise of some exciting new stall holders.

Firm favourites will be back on Princess Street for the first Knutsford Makers Market of the year this Sunday, along with some new faces, including Mrs Muamba and her Caribbean Sauces.

The range of sauces has been created by Shauna Muamba, the wife of football star Fabrice. Shauna used to make food for Fabrice to take to away games and soon had requests from other players, prompting her to turn her cooking into a business.

She said: “I got a lot of requests for jerk chicken and barbecue chicken. It was almost like packed lunches for the boys at Bolton.

“I thought, okay, there's clearly a gap in the market. It’s been lovely to see how many people enjoy my food. For me, it’s been a huge confidence boost.

“I don’t pretend to be a chef, I haven’t studied at any fancy school.

“I don’t know how they chop veg really quickly like on the television — I can’t do that. But I can cook wholesome, family meals.”

A donation from the sale of each jar will go to Arrhythmia Alliance to help make defibrillators publicly accessible to all, following her husband’s on-pitch cardiac arrest in March 2012.

Knutsford Makers Market will take place from 11am-4pm.
